Durham

​Durham, also known as The City of Durham is a cathedral city and civil parish on County Durham's River Wear. It serves as an administrative center of County Durham District and is a successor authority of the majority of the historic county Palatine, of which it was once the county town. It was built over the grave of St Cuthbert. Durham Cathedral was the center of pilgrimage in medieval England, while Durham Castle is where Durham University has been located since 1832.

Peterlee, in County Durham, is five miles south of Seaham. It is seven miles northwest of Hartlepool. It is 110 miles southeast of Edinburgh and 230 miles northeast of London. Peterlee is located five miles southeast of the Tyne & Wear boundary. Peterlee is within the County Durham unitary authority. It is located in the SR8 postal district. Peterlee is the post town.
